the new thing for teens is to date the same sex. They are NOT gay, but rather by dating the same sex during their high school years, they can achieve sexual gratification without "losing" their virginity or breaking their virginity vows/contracts they have made with their parents and or church.

I agree, but do have to mention that I have a friend of many years who has a daughter about a year or two older than Natalee. She has never had a boyfriend, is very bright, and was one of the most popular girls in her class during high school. Did she go to school proms with dates-yes but they were always only friends. No, I am not going on things her Mom says, but by seeing things with my own eyes & hearing things with my own ears. Now that she is a junior in college, her house continues to be the gathering place during college breaks. This kid comes from a well to do family, she is active in her church, volunteers etc. & parties as hard as the next kid. I think it is because of her that I believe a lot of what the family & Natalee's friends have said about her. Could she be fooling all of us-yes, but I doubt it.

Ignoring an issue doesnt mean it doesnt exist.
Watched a documentary last night...
17% of ALL 12 year olds use inhalents
20% of ALL 8th grade students binge drink at least once a month or more.
saying it doesnt exist in any particular school is just burying ones head in the sand and pretending the world is perfect. Truth is, todays kids are hurting and looking for comfort any place they can find it. In a bottle..in an aerosal can...in "love" with the same sex.

they dont consider it gay because they openly admit their attraction is to the opposite sex...they simply use the relationship with the same sex for pleasure. Kind of like the thinking oral sex is not sex etc. Sex and the definition of sex has changed with this generation.

Well actually I think it is a mixture of things. Being that homosexuality is more acceptable these days people are coming out as kids instead of as adults hence another kind of trend starting of wanting to be gay in school.. Or bicurious.. But actually a legitimate amount are gay and not just experimenting but like I said it is way more permissive enviroment now to do these sort of things that were unheard of say 10 years ago.

Huh, gee, can a women not accomplish the same thing by engaging in oral sex with a man? This is news to me as the reason there is so many girls hooking up with girls! Personally I have thought it was because so much of the media and porn make it look like "everyone" does it! These girls are just sheep going along with what they think is no big deal and in fact some really like it and love the actual act and/or the attention it brings from the opposite sex. It seems through these media outlets that it is many a fantasy of many guys to participate or watch girl on girl sex.

true, it is more common with the girls than with the boys. They just dont view it as a big deal. Kind of like the Madonna/Britney kiss stuff...neither of them are gay...its just a kiss. thats all it is with these teens...just sex.

Well actually I think it is a mixture of things. Being that homosexuality is more acceptable these days people are coming out as kids instead of as adults hence another kind of trend starting of wanting to be gay in school.. Or bicurious.. But actually a legitimate amount are gay and not just experimenting but like I said it is way more permissive enviroment now to do these sort of things that were unheard of say 10 years ago.

the new thing for teens is to date the same sex. They are NOT gay, but rather by dating the same sex during their high school years, they can achieve sexual gratification without "losing" their virginity or breaking their virginity vows/contracts they have made with their parents and or church.

Oh gosh --

Huh, gee, can a women not accomplish the same thing by engaging in oral sex with a man? This is news to me as the reason there is so many girls hooking up with girls! Personally I have thought it was because so much of the media and porn make it look like "everyone" does it! These girls are just sheep going along with what they think is no big deal and in fact some really like it and love the actual act and/or the attention it brings from the opposite sex. It seems through these media outlets that it is many a fantasy of many guys to participate or watch girl on girl sex.

Have you considered she may be a lesbian?
Posted by: pathenry | Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 06:08 PM
Many times---but her interaction with guys when she is out is excellent and not at all unnatural. One of my sons didn't really get into dating until his senior year in college. My brother (who has a son that is gay) used to make comments all the time.
Sorry it took so long but typepad & I disagreed

And the same sex couples are gay, not saving their virginity.

Some people are just late bloomers, I guess.
Posted by: pathenry | Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 06:36 PM
Pat, your are trying to twist my words. Woe said people were dating same sex and anouncing they are straight to save themselves. The couples I have heard about are gay and make no bones about it. There was a "Gay-Straight Alliance" for a while at the school. Live with it. Whether they are chaist is not an issue.

Woe evidently has a gay kid pretending to be straight. Teen girls don't have to engage in homosexual activities to pleasure themselves.

What--don't see anything where it says that girls have to engage in this behavior, only that they are choosing to do so.
